BarleyCourt Spaniels

I am now retired from breeding. Please feel free to contact me if you would like a recommendation to another reputable breeder.

I have worked with dogs for two decades having had my own, boarded other peoples, rescued, rehabilitated & re-homed dogs and micro-chipped as well as having been involved in breeding for several years now.

My idea of heaven is being out in the field with my girls watching them enjoy their work. I breed 'Working' type Cockers and Springers. I am not a commercial breeder so do not always have litters available. Please contact me to find out when our next litter is due.

We have puppies doing well in working homes, some of which are currently working through The Gun Dog Club certificates. Some of our pups are also progressing well in agility and canicross homes as well and puppies that have gone off to be service dogs. See below...

This is another fabulous charity. If you would like to make a donation or get involved in raising important funding, please click the logo to the right and you will be taken to their 'Get Involved' page.
Attention To Detail
When choosing a mate for one of my girls I check the inbreeding coefficient for the pairing to give the puppies the best chance at a healthy life, free of the inherited diseases due to heavy inbreeding. I also choose a dog that compliments my girls in work ethic and conformation as well as extensive health testing.
My Service To You
The BarleyCourt aim is to breed puppies that will be healthy, happy and confident with great working potential. If for any reason puppies cannot stay in their new homes, they are returned to me.

Once you have taken your new pup home, my service to you doesn't stop, I will always be at hand for advice and support regarding your pup.
Our Mums
My girls are fed good quality food as well as occasional raw meat and eggs to boost their vitamin intake while pregnant. Mums are wormed regularly, including while pregnant.
Raising Pups
BarleyCourt puppies are raised in our home, they are accustomed to all the usual household noises and used to being around other dogs and people of all ages. They also spend a little time in our puppy kennel which is only used for short periods after 6-7 weeks of age so they will easily adapt to home or kennel life - weather permitting. They are handled regularly and love human company. Puppies start the weaning process at three to four weeks of age, by eight weeks they are eating solid dry food. They are not given any tid-bits as I do not believe this is healthy for them and it could cause digestion problems when they get older. Puppies are wormed at 2 weeks, 5 weeks and 8 weeks of age. They are vet checked and have their 1st vaccination when they leave us at 8 weeks old. When pups leave us, they leave with a puppy pack including KC papers, BarleyCourt information/diet sheet and 12 weeks FREE insurance. Pups will also be micro-chipped. My pups have Kennel Club endorsements, for more information on this please see the FAQ page. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to ask.
Micro-Chipping
I offer a mobile, insured micro-chipping service for breeders within 15 miles of Buntingford. I can also attend events in the local area to promote microchipping, please contact me for more information.

From the 6th April 2016 it will become a legal requirement for all breeders to microchip their puppies in their own name before they are sold. I can come to your home/kennels and microchip your puppies for you. I use 'Petlog' microchips and have mini microchips available for smaller breeds.
